MILESTONE: Paul Renner cracks double-digits after finding a 10th supporter

Ft. Lauderdale, FL — After a friendly interaction in line at a local Publix, gubernatorial candidate Paul Renner did what many believed impossible and crossed into double-digit territory.

The former Florida House speaker spent 5 minutes in the checkout line speaking to local resident Melissa Gibson about topics ranging from the rising price of bananas to his famous bananas foster recipe; after he revealed he was running for governor, Gibson said "oh wow! You have my vote!" as she loaded various meats and vegetables onto the checkout counter.

Gubernatorial reporter Nick Harding caught up with Gibson as she was loading her groceries into her car:

Harding: What made you commit to voting for Renner? Was it his record of fiscal conservatism?

Gibson: Who?

Harding: You told Paul Renner you would vote for him while you were in line

Gibson: Oh, that guy. Committed is a strong word, he was nice, though. I think I'm going to vote for Desantis.

Harding: Governor Desantis is term-limited, he isn't running.

Gibson: Oh. Who else is running? I mean I'm not opposed to voting for Peter, but I'd like to explore my options.

Harding: It's Paul, not Peter.

Gibson: Sorry, I gotta go, kids need to get to soccer practice in 20 minutes.

At press time, none of our reporters had the heart to tell Renner about the interaction as he spoke to supporters (his wife and children).

"We're in this for the long haul, I firmly believe I can win this" said the poor little guy, as reporters and his family exchanged knowing glances.
