New York, NY — After Zohran Mamdani's victory in New York's mayoral election, the 34 year old mayor of New York has caused a national bus shortage as he ordered 8.5 Million Gillig Low-Floor buses in order to deliver on his promise to give every New Yorker a free bus. "Today is a new day in New York. As the new mayor of New York City, I have gotten right to work. I have contacted Gillig and placed an order for 8,500,000 Gillig Low Floor buses, as I said on the campaign trail, buses will be free in New York."
We spoke to New Yorkers to get their reaction: "I thought he mea- know what, hell yeah" was the reaction of Queens resident Albert Jefferson.
"Where the hell am I going to park a bus at my NYCHA apartment?" asked Brooklyn resident Ashley Clark.
We reached out to New York Governor Kathy Hochul about infrastructure to support the massive fleet of buses being brought into the state, but she was stuck in traffic, behind a line of 8.5 million Gillig Low Floors.
