Clay County purge countdown hits 50

Green Cove Springs, FL — Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook's countdown to Clay's semiannual purge has reached 50.

Every two years, the Clay County jail reaches maximum capacity and the Clay County Sheriff's office effectively shuts down and all crime is legal.

"We don't really care for the purge, but it is a tradition and necessary part of Clay's ecosystem. Luckily, most of the crimes committed here during the purge are just wildfires being set by guys named Robert down by Keystone trying to light off $750 worth of mortars at once." Said Sheriff Cook.

At press time, groups of Orange Park residents were seen standing by the town's red light cameras with baseball bats and masks.
