Finance committee torn over city budget funding Mayor's grill, Sheriff's fresh set.

Jacksonville, FL — On Thursday, the City Council finance committee had a heated discussion regarding two line items in the proposed city budget: $25,500 to reimburse Mayor Donna Deegan for her new grill, and $1,247.36 to reimburse Sheriff TK Waters for his fresh set of extra-long almond nails.

"I just don't think it's right" said Councilman Matt Carlucci, "Mayors used to pay for their own grill."

"I've been attacked for the way I spent as Council President, but Donna spent $25k on a $14k grill, my boy Rico could've saved her, and taxpayers, $9,000" said Councilman Kevin Carrico.

We caught up with both officials for their side of the story.

Deegan: Look, this is just politicization of basic dental care, we have a City dental plan, I don't see what the issue is. It really sounds like they have the hater committee looking over the budget.

Waters: I was elected to Protect and SERVE. Period.
