Jacksonville Parks director sentenced to 6 months of having to use city parks after DUI
Jacksonville, FL — A judge has sentenced Jacksonville Parks director Daryl Joseph to 6 months of being required to utilize the facilities of the city's parks for all of his recreation needs after he was arrested for DUI. After learning of the sentence, Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan called the sentence "cruel and unusual," stating that "no one should be forced to use the parks in this city." City Council Neighborhoods Committee chair Mike Gay noted he wants Joseph to be held accountable but "this is too far." Joseph is expected to appeal the sentence and ask for prison time.
