Rory Diamond introduces bill to fund 14 "Boomer boxes" for people to surrender unwanted elderly family members.

Jacksonville, FL — Wednesday morning, Jacksonville City Councilman Rory Diamond introduced legislation that would fund 14 "boomer boxes" at fire stations for people to surrender their unwanted 60+ year old family members.

The boxes will be placed at fire stations throughout the city; each box comes equipped with an alarm that immediately alerts JFRD so that firefighters can quickly and humanely tend to the individuals left inside of the box.
The boxes are also outfitted with a television that only has cable news channels, TV Land, and their "stories."

Reporter: So these boxes are where people drop off the Boomers, but what happens after firefighters retrieve them?

Diamond: Well, the Boomers are held at the fire station until someone comes along looking for a grandparent, help fixing a pre-2000's car, old family recipes that are missing one or two ingredients, or an argument.

Reporter: What happens to the old person if no one comes along and claims them?
